Miss Eddowes

Welcome to Year 5!

Y5 Maths Quiz Team

Y5 Maths Quiz Team attended the area heat of a National Maths Quiz on Wednesday afternoon with Mr Linsley at Junction Farm, Stockton. It was the first time we had entered the competition and the pupils did extremely well to answer a number of challenging maths questions.

We have been finding out more about what it means to 'be human' and explore the theme of 'Animals, including Humans'. We have learnt about the function of the heart and the circulatory system.
Over the next couple of weeks, the children will really be putting their Scientific skills to the test: they will be learning how to plan and carry out investigations, make predictions, record results and make conclusions based upon their evidence.

Check back here at the end of the term to see how they've done.

Year 5 will continue to have PE sessions every Monday and Wednesday afternoon. Hopefully, the weather will begin warming up as we approach the summer term and we will be able to do PE outside. Please help them ensure that they have the correct kit for these sessions.

Helping at Home
Children will bring home spellings and tables to learn each week. Spelling and Times table tests are carried out every Monday morning.
For our times table work our focus is on 'rapid recall' and the children are trying hard to recall the table facts instantly.
The times table songs on 'Purple Mash' are a fun way of learning these (see link below).
