Admissions Information

For school admissions information and access to an electronic application form, please use this link to visit the School Admissions page of the North Yorkshire County Council website.

The normal catchment for the school is Northallerton, although parents from outside the catchment area may of course exercise their right of choice and send their children, providing there is room.

Alverton Community Primary School is in North Yorkshire Local Authority. Applications for the admission of all children including extra-district children are dealt with by the LA.

Children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September and 31st August in the current academic year will be admitted full-time in September. Parents may defer their child’s entry into school until later in the school year, but not beyond the beginning of the term after their child’s fifth birthday, nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted.

For in-year applications; School Admissions should be contacted in the first instance. Please ring them on: 01609 533679 to see if the school has room, then a preference form should be submitted to the County Education Officer, County Hall, Northallerton, DL7 8AE or online.

The school’s maximum admission limit is 30.

We provide a maximum of 26 nursery places for 3 and 4 year olds. These three hour sessions are offered 5 mornings and 5 afternoons a week with the option of a payable lunch session. Parents may choose up to five free sessions a week from the term following their child’s third birthday.

Some children may be eligible for 30 hours free nursery education, please follow this link to find out how to apply: Apply for free childcare if you’re working – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Parents must complete an application form for a place in Nursery; these will be issued by school.

Notification of the online preference form for school admission will be sent to parents of children in our Admissions Book early in the Autumn and will be dealt with by the LA. A place in the nursery class does not guarantee a place in school.

For children with Special Educational Needs or disabilities, a programme of induction will be tailored to suit the needs of each individual child.

Parents wishing their child to attend Alverton Community Primary School should telephone or visit the school. A suitable appointment can then be made to view the school.

Parents of children under three are asked to register their children with the school as soon as possible so that future school numbers can be calculated at an early date.

You can use the North Yorkshire Council interactive maps to find out what catchment area you live in.
